Mom & Baby Yoga
Postnatal yoga for new moms and their pre-walking babies.

Interested in a gentle and safe way to begin to restore your body to its pre-pregnancy state, but don't want to leave your baby?  Here's the perfect class for you!

Mom & Baby Yoga classes focus on gentle, safe stretches and poses for new moms to help stretch, strengthen and relax your mind and body - all with your baby, who is newborn to crawling, by your side.  If your baby cries or needs to eat, no worries.  We're all Moms.  You are encouraged to take breaks as needed to attend to your baby, or even include your baby in your practice as is appropriate.  No judgement, no pressure.

Classes will focus on easing the discomforts, aches, and fatigue caused by caring for a baby, as well as strengthening muscles to regain physical stamina and form, and working with the breath to calm the body and mind.  Feel good, safe, connected and at home in your ever changing body, and build a support community of women at a similar life stage.

Mom & Baby Yoga benefits for postpartum moms:
  • Strengthen abdominal muscles that were stretched and weakened during pregnancy
  • Relief from common physical discomforts of caring for a newborn
  • Connect with other new moms
  • Learn breathing techniques that relax the body and help the body to heal from birth
  • Stretch and exercise without the stress of leaving your baby with someone else
This class is designed for women who have given birth within the past year and who have received the "ok" from their doctor or midwife that it is ok to exercise.  Beginners to yoga will enjoy these gentle classes and experienced practitioners will benefit from slowing down a bit to honor the changes in their body.

Also, check out our Peace Baby Yoga class, designed to focus on baby and mother/child bonding, a wonderful complement to Mom & Baby Yoga.

 
What to Bring/Wear:  It is recommended that you bring your own yoga mat to prevent the spread of germs, as well as a water.  (Yoga mats are available at the studio for purchase.)  Dress for movement.  Please bring a blanket for your baby to lie on.
