Adventure Play Workshop:

More Play, More Peace

A workshop for Teachers, Childcare Providers, Parents and Other Professionals Working with Children 2 to 8 years.

Adventure Play Logo Adventure Play is a program that gives children opportunities to play creatively and cooperatively.  Through play, children are invited to try out the skills of peacemaking, communication, expression of feelings, and working through challenges. Children love to learning in a playful setting…their bodies, minds and hearts are so ready to learn while moving.

Children need many opportunities for play AND they need opportunities to learn how to be peacemakers. How can we add play to their day? What are the challenges and what will support us in this work/play? This workshop is for anyone working with children, from toddlers and preschoolers to 1st and 2nd graders. Childcare providers, classroom teachers, parents and after school teachers will all find this workshop valuable.

Come to this workshop wearing comfortable clothes and footwear. Participants will leave this workshop with a healthy repertoire of games as well as strategies for teaching conflict resolution and peacemaking skills. The following are some of the concepts of Adventure Play that will be explored:

  • Creating a healthy, respectful community, classroom & playground
  • Peacemaking tools
  • Trust building and challenge activities
  • Buddy games – working with peers one-on-one
  • Responding to challenging behaviors
  • Processing an experience
  • Props and equipment for your “game bag”
