Empowering preschool educators with yoga and mindfulness-based tools to support SEL, behavior and classroom climate.
In this specialty workshop, preschool educators and caregivers of children ages 2 - 5 years will gain an understanding of the many benefits of yoga and mindfulness-based activities as it relates to educating and nurturing the whole child. Through interactive discussion and lots of playful, experiential practice, participants will learn developmentally-appropriate and engaging breathing activities, playful yoga postures, song and movement sequences, and games and relaxation techniques that support social, emotional, cognitive and physical health and well-being. Participants will also learn the components of an effective preschool yoga class and how to develop their own lesson plans to support preschool curricula as well as how to use yoga and mindfulness breaks throughout the day as a proactive behavior management strategy. With these tools, preschool educators will be empowered to create a positive, peaceful, productive learning environment as their students learn important skills for self-regulation that can be carried with them throughout their lives.
